Week of Compassion is the relief, refugee, and development mission fund of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States and Canada. They seek to equip and empower disciples to alleviate the suffering of others through disaster response, humanitarian aid and the promotion of mission opportunities.
The First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Wadsworth, Ohio, has supported the national Week of Compassion with our own Month of Compassion each February since 1976. We are one of the top congregations in the nation based on our contributions to Week of Compassion.
Every year, the month of February revolves around our Month of Compassion activities. Brief weekly presentations are given during both worship services explaining on how relief and long-term responses helps others throughout the year. We also have many special events, including the annual Month of Compassion Bake Sale (hosted by our 7th and 8th grade Sunday School classes), Compassion Cafe and the Children's March, where the children present their offering banks.
