Adult Sunday School

Adult Christian Education is an integral part of faith development. It provides time for us to grow in faith, learn more through God’s Word, and to be strengthened by Christian fellowship. We are encouraged through Bible study to see the relevance of the Scriptures in our lives. Our philosophy for Adult Christian Education is to provide opportunities for:

  • Individuals to develop a personal relationship with God
  • Faith development and spiritual growth through life-related education in the Scriptures
  • Meaningful Christian fellowship
  • Encouragement for each adult to use his/her special gifts to glorify God's Kingdom.

It is our hope and prayer that our Christian Education Classes will be a blessing to you. Descriptions and locations of these classes follow:

Adult Bible Study - Room 104

Leader: Waco Barnhart

Adult Bible Study class is going to study the Gospel of John. The apostle John writes this book so we may know that Jesus is the Son of God. He focuses on Jesus’ miracle and ministry. Throughout the book John brings you in on conversations with and about Jesus. Participants will enjoy learning how Christ’s claims and promises continue to strengthen us today. We invite you to join us!

 

Adult Fellowship - Courtyard Room

Leader: John Grom

This class is a fellowship/discussion class which leans toward contemporary topics that provide an opportunity for thoughtful discussion and enlightenment. While the class members represent a wide range of political views, we try to concentrate on looking at current issues through the prism of our Christian beliefs and biblical teachings. We look forward to benefitting from your ideas, your feelings and your imagination, and we will try to return the favor.

 

Analyze Faith - Adult Resource Center

This class will focus on contemporary social issues from the perspective of young adults. The class welcomes anyone post- high school, college, or post-college who wishes to stay connected to their faith and their church.

 

Bethany Class - Room 106

Leaders: Ruth Darling and Judy Pfeister

Each class begins with singing treasured hymns and then continues with prayers of thankfulness and concerns. The class will start the year off studying the Book of Acts, which gives the account of the birth and growth of the Christian church and is the link between Christ’s life and the life of the church. Please join us in making joyful music to our Lord and spending time in His Word.

 

Christian Foundations - Chalice Room

Leaders: Chris McAnlis, Karen Rule, Natalie Sydorenko and Felicity Wilson

Christian Foundations consists of various ages, backgrounds, and Bible knowledge. This is a basic class (100-200 level) in which the option to “pass” during any discussion is always acceptable. The Bible is used as the main source for learning with ample time given to find scripture references. This year’s endeavor is to investigate the Book of Revelation.

 

Connection - Room 207

Leader: Kate Gray, Cathy Fix, Heather Newman and Wendy Thompson

Connection is a Sunday morning gathering of Christian parents of middle school and high school youth. Biblical principles are used to support parents of teens as, together, they strive to connect in a deeper way with their teens, their faith, and their God. Updates on Chi Rho and CYF are given as well as exploring the impact of current trends on youth and families. All parents of teens are encouraged to stop by for great conversation and coffee.

 

Families In God - Room 206

Families in God is a class with YOUR faith, and that of your young family, in mind. The class will be using FaithWeaver which corresponds to the curriculum being used in the Children’s Sunday School classes. The class also will have an active social calendar giving time to develop friendships and support within the church family. Infants are welcome in class. Programming is provided for small children in Rooms 100 & 102.

 

Gateway - Fellowship Hall

Leaders: Leslie Critchfield, Rick Kies, Jerry Ritzman, Karole Heisler and Peggy Rowe

You are invited to Gateway, a community of believers that is learning and growing in faith by applying Scripture to their lives and having a lot of fun in the process. Each Sunday morning at 9:30 am this mid-size group gathers for coffee then actively examines Scripture with the purpose of applying it to our lives.

 

Homebuilders - Room 205

Leader: Karen Lanson

This class is primarily for those married or unmarried and emerging, existing, and developing families with or without children. Their focus is on the many facets of the Christian home and how it serves as a base for everyday living. Their Sunday School curriculum is open ended, covering a variety of topics that apply to Christian values and everyday life situations. Special events in this class include opportunities for Christian fellowship with class members and their families.

 

Scripture Seekers - Room 103

Leaders: Bob Henderson, Joe Molnar, Diane Davis, Dan Sondles and Karen Leatherman

We are men and women, in search of the meaning in the scriptures for our Monday through Saturday lives. “The Adult Bible Studies” curriculum guides us like a road map throughout the year. If you are searching for a “wow” Sunday School experience, we invite you to check us out one time.
