It’s difficult explain Lent to a young child, so we have designed a day when we follow the Vacation Bible School curriculum with a Passion theme and spend time learning about sacrifice, forgiveness and resurrection. A serious, but very important topic. It teaches our children to be aware of and understand what Jesus has done for us.
Picture this: ONE SOLID WEEK OF 130 children ages 5 – 11, 45 volunteers, music, recreation, storytelling, prayer, crafts, and of course snacks... and you have VBS! During the second full week of June we pull all the stops put and have a ball in the Lord! Celebration in the Bible! Registration for VBS begins in April. For more information, call the church office.
Fall is celebrated in the Children’s Department by a Harvest Celebration. Each year it’s different, from a Fall hike in a local MetroPark, a day at the farm, movie and games to a carnival, this event is always a family favorite. An alternative to Halloween, come celebrate God’s bountiful Harvest with us!
The Youth of First Christian Church, from Kindergarten through high school Seniors, have the opportunity to participate in our Family Christmas Eve service each year. We encourage any youth in this age group to join us in sharing the story of Jesus’s birth with our congregation! Please contact Katie Morton, Youth Choir Director, for more information as the new school year begins. Rehearsals will start in the beginning of October. We look forward to having you join us in sharing the story of Jesus's birth through scripture, prayer, dance, drama and song!
